About Us
The Scottsdale Board of REALTORS® officially organized on November 1, 1963. On October 20, 1964, we were incorporated. Five years later, we moved to our present location and became the largest trade association in Scottsdale. Effective January 1, 2000, the Carefree/Cave Creek Association merged with the Scottsdale Association of REALTORS® to form an even stronger Association for all of our Members. Effective January 1, 2004, our new name became the Scottsdale Area Association of REALTORS®.
Today, more than 8,100 REALTORS® from more than 800 firms belong to our Association. In addition, we have more than 400 Affiliate members (representatives from other real estate related professions such as title companies, lenders, home inspectors, etc.).
SAAR has earned the reputation of being the voice of real estate for the Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Carefree/Cave Creek, and Fountain Hills areas. In 1983, we became one of four "shareholders" involved with the formation of the Arizona Regional Multiple Listing Service (ARMLS), serving Maricopa County.
The Scottsdale Area Association of REALTORS® exists to maximize our Members' success. We set the standard for professional and ethical business practices by providing and promoting quality services and innovative programs to benefit our Members. Our goal is to be the best investment for success our Members can make while protecting the free enterprise system, and preserving and promoting private property rights.
REALTORS® is a registered collective membership mark which may be used only by real estate professionals who are members of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and subscribe to its strict CODE OF ETHICS. All REALTOR® Members of SAAR belong to the Arizona Association of REALTORS® (AAR) and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR).
Today, Members of our Association are active in many areas throughout our city including a wide variety of voluntary boards, commissions, charity foundations, and also devote thousands of hours to help enhance the quality of life in Scottsdale. In addition, we are a major investor in the city's economic development program, designed to recruit and retain employers to the Valley that are compatible with the southwest's lifestyle.
